Custom inserts for applications that value appearance, flexibility and permanent ESD performance
Black ESD IXPE foam roll
ESD IXPE combines flexibility, a smooth surface and permanent ESD performance. It is suitable for electronic-product trays, dividers and inserts with higher appearance and finish requirements. The raw-material form is not the final selection criterion; customers should compare finished, fabricated solutions.
|
Product Positioning Black ESD IXPE is a closed-cell, irradiation-cross-linked polyethylene foam with a density of 45±5 kg/m³ and a standard single-layer thickness of 5±0.3 mm. |
Core Point 1: The Original Surface Has an Integral Skin
The original IXPE material has a relatively smooth integral surface skin, one of its main visual differences from EVA. This skin works well on areas that require a clean presentation surface. However, longitudinal cuts, die-cut edges and CNC-machined cavities expose the internal cells and cannot be guaranteed to retain the skin.
Requiring every cut face and internal cavity to retain a skin increases structural and fabrication complexity. The design should identify where the skin is functionally or visually necessary instead of requiring every surface to look identical.
Core Point 2: Thick Structures Require Multi-Layer Thermal Lamination
The standard single-layer thickness is 5±0.3 mm. Finished thicknesses above 5 mm are produced by thermal lamination of multiple layers. Layer count affects appearance, accumulated tolerance, processing steps and cost, so it should be determined by cavity depth and product-support requirements rather than increased without analysis.
Core Point 3: Multiple Fabrication Methods Are Available
IXPE can be fabricated by die cutting, bonding, CNC machining and thermal lamination. The process depends on the drawing and order quantity: CNC may be evaluated for complex or low-volume designs, while die cutting may suit stable production designs. The Yufa team confirms the final process for each project.
Core Point 4: Permanent ESD Performance
IXPE derives its ESD performance from the material itself rather than a surface coating. Surface resistance is 1.0×10⁵–1.0×10⁹ Ω and static decay is under 2.0 seconds. Normal wiping and handling wear do not remove the ESD function.

Which Projects Should Consider IXPE First?
• The finished front surface and appearance are important
• A flexible, closed-cell electronics insert is required
• Permanent ESD performance and repeated use are required
• Cut faces and internal cavities do not need to retain the surface skin
|
Solution Confirmation IXPE layer count, skin orientation and fabrication method should be determined together with the customer’s handling habits and product drawing. The Yufa team compares die cutting, CNC machining and lamination according to quantity and budget. |
