— Make EPA Work Smoothly, Efficiently, and Safely
Complete Guide to Three Frame Materials | Let Yufa Help You Get It Right the First Time
An Essential Tool on the Production Line

In an EPA (Electrostatic Protected Area), every material transfer depends on a reliable trolley. A well-designed, properly configured ESD trolley delivers more than just搬运 efficiency—
• Material flow stays organized, keeping production节奏 smooth and efficient
• Static protection is complete, ensuring product safety
• Customizable sizes, modular assembly, and reconfigurable layouts adapt to any production environment
• Choose the right materials and configuration, and one trolley can serve reliably for many years
This article breaks down the three mainstream frame materials to help you quickly identify the configuration that best fits your needs.
Three Frame Materials: Strengths and Boundaries
Lean Tube — Best Value
• Most sturdy after assembly, with tightly engaged connectors for stable daily use
• Multiple color options: light yellow, black, white, custom colors—easy to differentiate workstations by color
• Highest cost-performance ratio, suitable for most industrial scenarios
Ideal for: Electronics assembly lines, general industrial workshops, scenarios requiring color-coded workstation management
Stainless Steel — Cleanroom Standard
• First choice for clean environments; corrosion-resistant, meeting strict cleanliness requirements
• Relatively heavy. Due to hard steel walls, structural connectors loosen over time and require periodic tightening
• Available only in stainless steel natural color; lower cost-performance than lean tube
Ideal for: Cleanrooms, semiconductor manufacturing, optoelectronics—environments with strict particle control requirements
Aluminum Alloy — Custom Shape Expert
• Sturdy after assembly; can be fabricated into complex shapes for special structural needs
• Available only in aluminum alloy natural color; lowest cost-performance
Ideal for: Scenarios requiring custom-shaped structures to fit special production line layouts

Load Configuration: Tube + Wheels, Both Essential
A trolley's load capacity is determined by two factors: tube thickness and wheel grade. Both must match for optimal performance.
Tube Thickness vs. Load
• 0.8mm tube — supports approximately 150kg
• 1.2mm tube — supports approximately 350kg
• 1.5mm and above — supports approximately 500kg
All three materials have roughly the same load capacity at the same thickness. Choice should be based primarily on use environment and structural requirements.
Wheel Grades
• Light-duty wheels — up to 200kg
• Medium-duty wheels — up to 400kg
• Heavy-duty wheels — 500kg and above
Practical tip: First estimate total cargo weight, then match both tube thickness and wheel grade. The bottleneck is often the wheels, not the frame.
ESD Configuration Essentials
ESD Shelves — Green Is the Signature
The shelves on an ESD trolley are the direct contact surface for materials and a critical part of the trolley's static protection system.
• Color: Primarily green/teal—the signature color of ESD shelves, instantly recognizable
• Material: ESD laminate surface with high-density core; surface resistivity 10⁶ ~ 10⁹ ohms
• Function: Static from materials flows through shelf → frame → ESD wheels → ground, forming a complete discharge path
Shelf count is customizable based on needs; common configurations are 1–3 shelves.
ESD Wheels — A Critical Component
Even if the frame and shelves are ESD-safe, non-ESD wheels will break the protection chain.
Standard wheels block the static discharge path, preventing static from reaching ground. Therefore, trolleys used in EPA environments must be equipped with ESD wheels.
• Surface resistivity standard: 10⁶ ~ 10⁹ ohms
• ESD frame + ESD shelves + ESD wheels = complete static protection system
Guard Rails — Optional Accessory
Guard rails are optional accessories for ESD trolleys, primarily used to prevent materials from sliding off during transport.
• When to use: Uneven floors during transport, small items prone to sliding, top-level protection for multi-tier trolleys
• When optional: Smooth workshop floors, large items unlikely to slide,追求 trolley lightweighting
Guard rails can be configured as single or double layer based on actual needs, with flexible installation positions.
Quick Configuration Guide — 3-Step Selection
Step 1: Determine Use Environment → Lock Frame Material
• General workshop / electronics assembly line → Lean tube
• Cleanroom / semiconductor / optoelectronics → Stainless steel
• Custom shapes for special layouts → Aluminum alloy
Step 2: Estimate Cargo Weight → Lock Tube Thickness + Wheel Grade
• Up to 200kg → 0.8mm tube + light-duty wheels
• 200–400kg → 1.0–1.2mm tube + medium-duty wheels
• 400kg+ → 1.5mm+ tube + heavy-duty wheels
Step 3: Confirm Accessory Needs → Lock Shelves, Wheels, Guard Rails
• EPA environment → Must include ESD wheels + green ESD shelves
• Guard rails needed? → Select based on material characteristics and transport environment
• Shelf count → Customize based on material sorting needs (typically 1–3 shelves)
Three steps, and your configuration list is ready.
